It started with one sewing machine.

Long before EKAEI, there was Grandma’s sewing machine — a place where fabric became something beautiful. Where hands created, repaired, and transformed. Where we first learned that a simple needle and thread could carry stories from one generation to another.

That memory became part of the heart behind EKAEI. And now, we want to pass it forward.

One Machine. A New Beginning.

Through The One You Project, EKAEI is committed to supporting women in India with opportunities to learn, create, and work toward greater financial independence.

Our first initiative focuses on something especially meaningful to us: sewing. As EKAEI grows, a portion of our journey will help provide sewing machines and support vocational sewing opportunities for women building livelihoods of their own.

Because sometimes a sewing machine isn’t simply a machine. It is a skill. A source of income. A sense of independence. A beginning.

From Her Hands to Yours

Every EKAEI piece celebrates the extraordinary textile traditions and craftsmanship of India. We believe the women and artisans behind these skills should be part of the future we are building, too.

Our vision for The One You Project goes beyond giving. As we grow, we hope to create opportunities for women who have developed sewing and textile skills to participate in paid work connected to EKAEI — allowing craftsmanship to become a pathway to sustainable income.
